Welcome to USP Health Week 2016

Campus Life in partnership with the Ministry of Health is pleased to be hosting the Annual USP Health Week for the fourth time from Tuesday 11 October to Friday 14 October 2016.

The week-long event is aimed at bringing together staff and students with a major focus on encouraging, discovering, improving and maintaining a healthy lifestyle on a budget.

The 2016 USP Health Week is about making a commitment to "Invest in Your Health" and to realize that, Campus is Life is organizing a range of talks, competitions, and physical activity classes, cooking demonstrations and health checkups.

During the week, students and staff can find out how to use the expertise and services provided within the University to reach their full health potential and state of mind.

Get Walking

You can participate in the VC’s Health Walk.

Yes we know what you're thinking. Too busy and can’t afford to take that afternoon off!  Start your own group and ‘get walking’; it’s for your own benefit.

There are many other forms of exercise during the rest of the week. Just do whatever you are comfortable with.

Cooking Demo

Come to the Health Week. There will be a cooking demonstration from Australia Pacific Technical College trainers and student chefs. Professional chef, Chef Phillip from the Holiday Inn, will also be providing a cooking demonstration.

Local food is fresher and tastes better than food that has been flown in from thousands of miles away.

Dietician on board! This is your chance to get some tips and advice on how to cook healthy meals using mostly local produce within budget.

Stress Management and Health

Many people don’t consider stress management as a factor unless they are on the brink of a burnout. With our busy lives as either a staff or student, it doesn’t seem important to take on the practice of stress management.

However, it is vital to develop healthy stress relieving practices. It will pay off in the long run like better health, increased productivity and more happiness in general.

Cancer Awareness. Find Cancer Early

Some cancers can be found early, before they have had a chance to grow and spread. The earlier a cancer is diagnosed the greater the chance it can be treated successfully. Cancer not only affects the person but it has a major impact on the person’s family, friends and work place.

Do the right thing and get checked.

Fitness through Dance

Dancing can be transforming. Uplift a tired soul, give free rein to locked-away creativity, and unite cultures. On a more physical level, dancing is a great mind and body workout.

‘Shake them hips’ with the renowned Toso Dance Fitness program and instructors.

Community Outreach

About 1 in 7 people entering a hospital will need blood and one pint of blood can save up to three lives

If you’re healthy and aged 17 or over, do something incredible.... Give blood
